EP
An EP (Extended Play) is a music recording that contains more tracks than a single, but is shorter than a full-length album (LP). Typically, an EP includes 3 to 6 songs, and its total duration is usually under 30 minutes. EPs are often used by artists to release new music between albums, showcase a smaller collection of songs, or give fans a taste of upcoming material.
Unlike a full album, which tends to have a more extensive concept or theme, an EP often features a more concise, focused selection of tracks. It’s a popular format for emerging artists to introduce themselves to the audience without committing to a full album, or for established artists to experiment with new sounds or ideas.
EPs are a flexible, accessible way for musicians to release music without the extensive production and marketing effort required for a full album.
